Remembering Peter

Remembering Peter

Yesterday at the United Reformed Church in Birkdale, we celebrated the life of Pete Goley - and wasn’t it a life well lived?

A teacher of physics, a globetrotter, a poet, a lover of music, a sportsman, an activist, a friend, a husband to Chris for forty five years, a father, and grandfather. And let’s not forget - a Tom Jones tribute act!

Pete, one of the founder members of Southport Friends of Palestine, stood with us on every vigil he could physically make. With his chemotherapy bottle tucked into his pocket, Pete would hold the Palestinian flag up high, asking for justice and peace in that land.

Thank you Pete, for your inspiration and support, may you rest in peace.
