Our dear friend and comrade Nabhan Alhanshi passed away last week after long battle with cancer. To honour his efforts for Palestine movement and for sadaqa jariya (continuous charity) in his name, we are going on a charity hike on 3rd of May. Liverpool Hikers for Palestine along with groups across the Palestine movement, are taking part to hike Rivington Pike in memory of Nabhan and raise as much as possible through sponsors and donations. All the money raised will be donated to Zaytoun charity to plant olive trees in Palestine in his name. InshaAllah when Palestinians get shadow and olives from trees he will get the reward for it. Food for Palestinians and continous reward for Nabhan🥹✌️🇵🇸.
Nabhan was a writer and activist who played a huge part in the Liverpool Palestine movement. From the first protests that he attended alone, to leading the march with his powerful Arabic chanting, bringing a sense of joy and celebration of Palestinian resistance with his infectious energy and dancing. He was born in Oman, and was a prominent activist there, which led to his exile from his home for twelve years. Still his activism continued, founding the Omani Centre for Human Rights, and then as the genocide in Palestine began becoming a essential part of the movement for Palestinian liberation too. When he became ill, he chose to go back to Oman, and he has been missed by all of us since he left, and will be forever.
Nabhan will never be forgotten, and we want to honour his memory and show the impact he had on all of us, both as a comrade and as a friend. Please donate as much as you can to help us reach our goal - each olive tree costs £5, and we hope to plant 1000 olive trees in his name.
